Daily Reflection: Thursday, May 26

Thursday, May 26

Generally, this day is the day of the Ascension of the Lord but in most dioceses it has been moved to next Sunday so that more people can celebrate this important even in Jesus’ life. Today’s readings prepare us for the Ascension. Jesus says in John’s Gospel: “A little while and you will no longer see me and a little while later you will see me.” Yes, His physical body will ascend but His presence will always be here with us and for us. Jesus has completed His work and now He has entrusted the ongoing work to us, the Body of Christ. For Jesus, this is an act of trust in us. Unworthy though we may be, He trusts us. In return we say, “Lord Jesus, I place my trust in You.”
