Daily Reflection: Friday, February 9

Friday of the Fifth Week of Ordinary Time

“Ephphatha!”  (That is, be opened!)

And immediately the man’s ears were opened,

his  speech impediment was removed, and he spoke plainly.

He ordered them not to tell anyone.

But the more he ordered them not to, the more they proclaimed it. (Mk 7:334-37)

It is hard to keep a secret, especially one as important as Jesus.  But, are we, in effect, obeying those words of Jesus to keep his Good News secret, when just the opposite is needed now

John Frambes, ofm
