Daily Reflection: Thursday, February 8

Thursday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

“For it is not right to take the food of the children and throw it to dogs.”

She replied and said to him,

“Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.”  (Mk 7:27-28)

Of course, Jesus granted the woman’s request and freed her daughter from a demon.  Of course.  Did Jesus have to change his mind or was this what he had in mind all along?  It is not important.  The challenge for us is to make our compassion as great and wide as the Lord’s.  No one is unworthy.  The Lord does not discriminate.
