Daily Reflection: Monday, December 5

Monday of the Second Week of Advent

“But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority to forgive sins” — he said to the one who was paralyzed,

“I say to you, rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home.”  (Lk 5:24)

Sometimes people believe that their sin is so terrible that they cannot be forgiven.  Granted, there are some pretty bad sins, but the Lord is absolutely clear that he can forgive them.  The physical cure of the paralyzed man was a token of Jesus’ authority.  Jesus wants to forgive us.  It is up to us to believe that he can.
