Daily Reflection: Friday, January 12

Friday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

They came bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men.

Unable to get near Jesus because of the crowd,

they opened the roof above him.

After they had broken through,

they let down the mat on which the paralytic was lying. (Mk 2:3-4)

“No obstacles!”  I had a boss who used to say that.  It drove us crazy, but we always got the job done.  Assuming the four men were friends of the the paralyzed one, there was no obstacle to their friendship, no obstacle to serving their friend and no obstacle to their faith.

Might not Jesus say to us, “No obstacles!”

John Frambes, ofm
