Daily Reflection: Saturday, January 13

Saturday of the First Week in Ordinary Time

Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?  (Mk 2:16)

I like to think that Jesus ate with tax collectors and sinners because they were more interesting than the Pharisees, but the truth is that Jesus could not stay aloof from people who needed him.  Just to eat with them was a life-restoring proclamation of the Good News.

Do we ever refrain from eating with someone who needs Good News?
