Daily Reflection: Monday, January 15

Monday January 15

In the time of Jesus, wine was kept in skins that aged with the wine. New wine had to be poured into new skins or the old skins would burst and all would be lost. This metaphor for change is important for us because it is easy to want to hold onto old ways and reject the new even when the new may be better. New ideas can open our minds to a new understanding of the world, the faith, and even God! We hold onto what is essential and allow what is not to be honored for its time and make space for the new.
