Daily Reflection: Tuesday, January 30

Tuesday, January 30, 2024 – 4th Week in Ordinary Time

One theme found in the gospel reading is fear. The healed woman feared Jesus because she touched a holy man without permission. Women in Jesus’ times, were consider 2nd class, and the property of men. People from the synagogue official’s house told him not to bother Jesus, which caused the official to fear the worst. Both the man and the woman’s fear came from others and what society norms told them what to fear. Jesus told the official, “Do not be afraid; just have faith”. Jesus also tells us not to be afraid and have trust, because God has unconditional love for us. We need to have faith and trust in God’s love for us.
