Daily Reflection: Wednesday, January 31

Wednesday, January 31, 2024 – Memorial of St. John Bosco

In the gospel reading Jesus is rejected by people of his native (home) place. Many of these people were family members. I just returned from visiting my family in upstate NY. I know that some treat me like when I was adolescent. This is not to say that they are mean or nasty. People especially those in our family are unable to see our growth and how we are developing into our authentic self. When people change and grow, some have a difficult time accepting this because it is the unknown. I know at times I did not accept the growth of someone. I want to keep them in the box of the past, because I know what to except. Today let us pray for the grace to see the growth and the conversion in others and celebrate it not fear it.
