Daily Reflection: Monday, January 9
Monday January 9
The Baptism of the Lord.
The reading from Isaiah tells us that the one called forth who has received God’s spirit will bring justice to the earth, will be a light to the nations. We know that Jesus is this one, and we see it when Jesus entered into the waters of baptism. He was blessed with the Spirit descending upon him and hearing the affirmation of God’s words – “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” We continue to celebrate Jesus as the light of the world, and we join with him in bringing justice to the earth. We also have received the spirit of God, we also are beloved of God and so are to share his light.
