Daily Reflection: Thursday, January 12

Thursday January 12

The leper’s words in today’s Gospel “If you wish, you can make me clean” could have been said in a couple of different ways. The most obvious is in a spirit of trust that, of course, Jesus would want to and would make the leper clean. In another way, the leper might have been challenging Jesus, almost daring him to do what was needed! Hopefully when we ask for God’s help we are doing it trusting in God’s care for us. But at times, we may not be so trusting! This is quite different from giving our will over to God and knowing that the answer to our prayer might be different from what we want! May our prayer always be one of trust, for the God we go to in times of need will always do what is best for us.
