Daily Reflection: Friday, January 13

Friday January 13

The story of the men making a hole in the roof to get their friend to Jesus for healing is one of ingenuity as well as of faith.  The four men carrying him were not about to give up because of the crowd. Their faith in Jesus gave them power to reach out in any way they could to get to him.  Jesus speaks to the paralytic when he says “Child, your sins are forgiven.”  Yet he also saw “their faith” and healed the man not only because of his faith but that of his friends as well. This is another example of our lives as members of the community of believers – we must act together for the good of all.
