Daily Scripture Reflection - Wednesday of Holy Week

You guessed it! Today we read the third of the four “The Servant of the Lord” oracles. Once again, we read of the prophet praises God for his called and his God given talents to be a prophet for God. We hear how Isaiah states he is going to be faithful to his divine vocation even though there are going to be personal hardships living out this call. The prophet acknowledges it is not through his own power that he lives out this call. He states: “the Lord God is my help.” The one who is the perfect role model of the Servant of the Lord is Jesus, God made flesh.

Reflect: Do I thank God for my successes in my life, because it is through my divine gifts that made me be successful. When I am finding life difficult, do I try to get through it on my own or do I turn to God, the Lord who is my help. Or do I reject God’s help because I am afraid of what it might cost me.
