Daily Reflection: Friday, October 11

Mass today is the Memorial of Pope St. John XXIII. What a surprising Pope he turned out to be. Many did not expect much from his papacy and yet he knew that the church needed to open its windows and work at renewal. His attitude is reflected in his saying: “Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams.” And “see everything, overlook a great deal, correct a little.” What a wise man!
