Daily Reflection: Tuesday September 24

In today’s Gospel Jesus is not denying the role of family in his life, but broadening its concept to include all who are in need. We are part of the family of Jesus not simply by being born into it, but because we have listened to his word and acted upon it. Just as Jesus himself had a special care for those on the margins of his society, so too are we called to truly see those who are in need and to do what we can to alleviate their needs. We cannot just ignore those who are left out of the mainstream whether by their race, their culture, their gender or their income!
