Daily Reflection: Monday, August 5, 2024

Today we hear Matthew’s version of the feeding of the five thousand. At the very beginning we hear how Jesus found out about the death of his cousin John. We know that Jesus was experiencing grief over his lost for we read: “When Jesus heard of it, he withdrew in a boat to a deserted place by himself.  When we experience a lost and feeling grief it is normal and healthy to take time to sit along with the grief. It is also important to take a break of grief and be with others. Jesus is a model in healthy grieving. Today pray for those who are experiencing grief.
