Daily Reflection: Saturday, August 3

The gory story of the beheading of John the Baptist can teach us many things. Herodias wanted John dead because he spoke the truth about Herod’s relationship with her.  Herod was weak, probably feeling the results of partying with those he wanted to impress. Herodias’ daughter allowed herself to be the instrument of her mother’s guilt and participated in the murderous request. Integrity, honesty, personal strength, morality were all missing in the list of characters in this story. Are they prominent in our story?
