Daily Reflection: Friday, August 2

“Is he not the carpenter’s son?”

When Jesus spoke in his own town, he was discounted because of his familiarity and possibly because he was the son of a simple carpenter. It is easy to not see what is too close to us. At times we may need to step back, away from what is usual to see more clearly. Even with God, we may be blinded to who God is by the image we have of the God we grew up knowing. Let us open our eyes to see more clearly God and the others around us.
