Daily Reflection: Friday, December 29

Friday, December 29

Archbishop Thomas a Becket’s murder in the Canterbury Cathedral is remembered today. Although he had a complicated relationship with King Henry II who appointed him to high positions, this eventually changed and Henry wanted to get rid of him and eventually he was murdered. Thomas’ saintliness was well known and his tomb became a place of popular devotion. He is the patron of lawyers.
