Daily Reflection: Tuesday, March 21

Tuesday, March 21

Back to Lent and today we hear about a man who had been ill for 38 years and was waiting for someone to put him in the pool when the water was stirred up. Ill for 38 years and still hoping that his condition might change…and then Jesus appeared on the scene. “Rise, take up your mat and walk,’ Jesus says. Rather than standing in awe at what had happened, many standing there complained that this couldn’t be done on a Sabbath. Jesus shows how appropriate it is to have a person’s life changed and the present and future offer him much more than he was used to for those 38 years he was near the pool…and on the Sabbath. Pause and think about this man’s new day and future…and how Jesus changed his life.
