GOSPEL REFLECTIONS: APRIL 16

Saints of God, the Lord be with you! In today’s Gospel according to Saint John (6: 1-15) we have the feeding of the multitude (which is found in all four Gospels). While we have been taught this is a foreshadowing of the Eucharist, I also see that there is foreshadowing or fulfillment in today’s Responsorial Psalm, “One thing I seek: to dwell in the house of the Lord” (Ps. 27: 1, 4, 13-14). When we are finally and completely with the Lord in heaven, there will be no more want or hunger. Today, let’s give a little piece of heaven to someone who is hungry be bringing food to the food pantry.
