Daily Reflection: Tuesday, June 20

Tuesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time

But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your heavenly Father, for he makes his sun rise on the bad and the good, and cause rain to fall on the just and the unjust.  (Mt 5:44-45)

When someone does you dirt, it is natural to want to settle the score.  But Jesus wants us to be remarkable disciples and to love our enemies.  Our gentleness may win over the enemy and cause wonder in someone who knows the situation.  We are not doormats, rather persons who have power to love because of him who loves us.  We imitate the goodness of God.
