Daily Reflection: Wednesday, June 21

Memorial of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, Jesuit

When you pray, go to your inner room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. (Mt 6:6)

We pray together in church and our togetherness helps us to worship.  I think, though, that our communal prayer begins in the secret place where we pray alone.  It is there that our intimate bond with the Lord is forged and nourished.  In solitude we pour out our joy and our anguish.  Enriched by our quiet time with God, we bring those gifts to church with us.  There we lift each other with our prayer.

John Frambes, ofm
