Daily Reflection: Tuesday, October 3
Tuesday, October 3
This evening, it is the Franciscan custom to gather to remember the passing of St. Francis from this life to the fullness of life with God. The ceremony is called “The Transitus.” (the passage). It enacts in ritual his final moments surrounded by his brothers. St. Francis spoke of death as “Sister Death”, thus taking away the dread Medieval fear of this reality. “Welcome, Sr. Death.” It is a quiet, peaceful evening of remembrance. All are invited to this ceremony at 7 PM in the church.
