Daily Reflection: Wednesday, October 4
Wednesday, October 4
We celebrate this day in honor of our Holy Father St. Francis. In the Mass for today it says: “Francis, the man of God, left his home behind, abandoned his inheritance and became poor and penniless, but the Lord raised him up.” Today, also brings to a close the month long celebration of a Season of Creation, honoring St. Francis as the patron of the environment but also the Pope’s encyclical “Laudato Si.” Like St. Francis, we must be good stewards of all that God has given us. St. Francis’ respect for creation inspired Pope Francis and now we must work to put into practice how we can take care of all of God’s creation. One writer said: “I think St. Francis of Assisi is in the depth of every human being…” Let us act on that.
