Daily Reflection: Monday, April 8
Monday April 8
“Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38
Today the church celebrates the feast of the Annunciation, transferred from March 25 which fell during Holy Week. We honor Mary’s ‘Yes’ to the invitation to be the vessel for the Incarnation of Jesus. Celebrating this feast now really brings us full circle from the beginning of Jesus’s human life to his death on the cross and on to the Resurrection. Mary is a central figure in all of these events, most of which we have to accept on faith as did she. Mary invites us to take a leap of faith and trust in the God who comes asking, not demanding, our participation in bringing Jesus to birth today in our own space and time.
