Daily Reflection: Friday, April 12
Friday April 12
“It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.” Acts 6:2
The disciples seemed to be neglecting the needs of some of the widows because they had to devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word. They recognized the priority of this ministry but also saw the obligation to provide for the rest of the needs of the people. They found a way to balance what could be conflicting needs by appointing others to serve along with them as ministers to the community. This acknowledges the reality that no one can be all things to all people! It takes a multitude of people to serve the needs, both spiritual and practical, of a church community. Sharing our talents helps this to be a reality in our parish – just read the bulletin to see how it is happening here!
