Daily Reflection: Tuesday, July 5
July 5 Tuesday of the 14th Week in Ordinary Time
A demoniac who could not speak was brought to Jesus and when the demon was cast out the mute man spoke. (Mt 9:32)
I am sure that the first thing the man said was “Thanks.” Before that moment there was probably a lot that he had wanted to say. Some simple things he could gesture like “I am thirsty.” But deeper things like love and hope, longings of the heart and soul, how could he “say” them? And before Jesus came, was there someone to “listen” to the man’s wordless speech?
Pray to have a listening heart to hear what is not spoken.
