Daily Reflection: Thursday, February 3

Thursday, February 3

On this feast of St. Blaise we have the traditional “Blessing of throats.” St. Blaise was both a bishop and a physician and he is said to have interceded for a young boy who was choking on a fishbone. It is timely for this blessing of throats considering so many people are dealing with throat problems because of the flu and the virus. The prayer that is said asks that “God may deliver you from every disease of the throat and from every illness.” If you can’t go to church for the blessing, pray it by yourself and for others.

Fr. Andrew
