Daily Reflection: Friday, February 4
Friday, February 4
We encounter the evil of King Herod in today’s Gospel as we hear of the account of the beheading of John the Baptist. The Scriptures show us what a powerful man Herod was and even though he was powerful, he was threatened by anyone who was popular. The holy innocents were slaughtered and now John the Baptist. John never gave in because his life was threatened. He remained firm in his role as precursor to the messiah. What we learn is: Stand firm in doing what is right even when threatened or when it is not popular.
