Daily Reflection: Thursday, July 20

Thursday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me….  (Mt 11:29)

Jesus asks us to take on the yoke of obedience to his word.  He promises rest to us when we do, but that might take a while.  Jesus asks us to do hard things like love our enemies.  Gradually, doing the hard things over and over, bearing his yoke, we are changed.  We become more like him and are ready to receive his rest.
