Daily Reflection: Saturday, July 29

Saturday July 29

Today’s liturgy honors Martha, Mary, and Lazarus. These good friends of Jesus were a family who opened their home to Jesus – they were faithful followers, and believers. Mary found a way to sit with Jesus and listen with her heart to his teachings. Martha was the heart of the home, making it a place of welcome for Jesus and other believers. She was the one who recognized him as the Christ, even in the depths of her grief. Lazarus was a true friend, who heard Jesus’ call to come forth and be freed from what bound him. We honor these very human relationships and pray that our friendships may be like those of this family as we welcome Jesus into our own lives.
