Daily Reflection: Thursday, August 10
Thursday, August 10
St. Paul’s second Letter to the Corinthians for today says: “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.” This I so true of St. Lawrence, the deacon, whose feast is today. He was a deacon in the church at the time that it was the responsibility of the deacons to make sure that the poor were taken care of and that they received what they needed. He regarded the “poor” and “marginalized” as the “treasures” of the church. He was put to death on a gridiron. Today, in his spirit, do something to help someone in need.
