Daily Reflection: Friday, February 24

Friday, February 24

Today’s Frist Reading speaks about “fasting.” The Prophet Isaiah tells about his observations of fasting when he says that it ends in quarreling and fighting and striking one another- in negative behavior. Rather he says that fasting should bring about a new person who is concerned with those who are burdened with hunger, homelessness, needing clothing, sheltering those who are oppressed, easing other’s challenges. Fasting here rekindles our sensitivities and makes us more alive to others. With the Lord, you may call and the Lord will respond: “Here I am.!”
