Daily Reflection: Saturday, February 25

Saturday, February 25

It is always amazing to observe the type of people that Jesus calls forth (including us). Today’s Gospel has Him calling Levi, the tax collector. I’m sure that this caused some comments among those standing there. The reason that He does this is quite clear: “I have not come to call the righteous to repentance but sinners.” I don’t think that many of us can excuse themselves from this, no matter how “righteous” we might be. The response to the First Reading is helpful for developing the correct attitude: “Teach me your ways, Lord, that I may walk in your truth.”
