Daily Reflection: Saturday, March 11

Saturday March 11

The most important image in today’s story of the prodigal son is that of the father, watching and waiting for his son to return. He goes out to meet his son with open arms and welcomes him home in spite of what the son has done.  This is the image of God – a loving father who is always living in the hope that we will return to his embrace. We are called to have the same stance toward those we call sinners – to always be open to them as beloved children. Not to be judgmental, not to lay shame on them, not to be closing doors but opening our lives and our hearts to all. This is how God waits for us – can we not live in the same attitude of love and forgiveness?
