In today’s gospel we hear Jesus tell us, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” Some of us, right away think about the suffering that we will experience by being followers of Christ. We think that other’s will cause our suffering.  I think that we miss an important part, that Jesus is asking us to give up control and place our trust with God’s plan. When we are no longer in control and no longer are able to do what we want, when we want, we make ourselves suffer. Today pray for the grace to trust in God’s plan for us.
