Daily Reflection: Friday, May 3

Feast of Saints Philip and James, Apostles

How can you say, “Show us the Father”?

Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?  (Jn 14:9-10)

Jesus reminds his disciples that he never works independently.  He is always doing his Father’s work.  He is in the Father and the Father in him.

I have to admit that it is hard for me to think of that when I am praying.  We pray to the Triune God even when our minds are focused on one Person of the Trinity.

I am right there with Philip when he says to Jesus, “Show us the Father.”   And I am grateful to Jesus for straightening me out.
