Daily Reflection: Monday, May 6

Monday May 6

What struck me most in today’s readings is the response for the psalm after the first reading: “The Lord takes delight in his people.” Many of us grew up with an image of God that did not include God taking delight in us! It is a lovely image that speaks of God looking at the people created in God’s own image and rejoicing in them. This delight does not depend on our goodness or even our success in being prayerful and holy. It simply is God being God! The psalm invites us to praise God with song and dance as we also take delight in our God!
