Memorial of St. Teresa of Jesus, Virgin and Doctor of the Church

There is nothing concealed that will not be known.  (Lk 12:2)

With St. Francis Xavier, St. Teresa of Lisieux is Patron of the Missions.  She never left Europe and lived the enclosed life of a Carmelite nun.  Paradoxically, she is patron of those who carry the faith all over the world.  The theology and practice of missionaries has changed a lot since Teresa died in1897, but her prayerful support has not.  Her cloistered life challenges us to be missionaries wherever we are.  And to pray for missionaries far away.
