Luke 8:16-18

In this season of major storms when many lose electricity, we come to a greater appreciation of the light we have. Even a small candle can illuminate the darkness so we can function when all is dark around us. We put our candles or lanterns up on a stand so the light is most effective. Jesus tells us that whatever light we have should be used so that others can see, not hidden away because of false humility. The light to which he is referring is not physical light, but the light of the graces we have received. We are called to share what has been given to us as gift so that others may see God’s goodness and care.
