Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome

You are God’s building. (1 Cor 3:9)

Churches are symbols. We celebrate today the Church of St. John Lateran, built on the Lateran hill of Rome. It is the Cathedral of the Pope, Bishop of Rome. It is a building freighted with symbolism, but first of all it is a symbol of us. As St. Paul writes, “We are God’s building.” We are the living stones of God’s building. We are both complete and a work in progress. God keeps building. For the love of God, we need to be the best living stones that we can be.
