Daily Reflection: Wednesday, February 9

Wednesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Blessed be the Lord, your God….In his love for Israel, the Lord has made you king to carry out judgement and justice. (1 Kings 10:19)

The Queen of Sheba spoke these words to Solomon during her state visit.  The court of Solomon and the prosperity of Israel during his reign were very impressive, but the queen reminded him of God’s priorities for his kingship: wise judgement and justice.  Children have an innate sense of what is fair.  As adults, shouldn’t we look at the world and our society with that same God-given sense?  It is not just for Solomon.
