Happy Mother’s Day!

As many of you know, I have talked about my mother in a homily every once in a while.   She is a great role model for me and for my family.  Her dedication to us over the years, and to my dad for the 70 years that they knew each other, 67 years married, has always been unquestionable and life-giving.  She is an inspiration to me and my brothers and sister, and at 95, I know she is an inspiration to so many other people.

But of course, you know, I am biased.  We all are, especially when it comes to our mothers.  There is no one in the world like our mothers.  No one.  No one else carried us in their womb, nurtured us through the years, or truly cares for us like our mothers.  They have a special place in our hearts.

On this Mother’s Day I share with you a prayer that my mother passed along to me.  She was so moved by it that she wanted me to share it with you.  It is written by Pedro de la Cruz and published by CatholicPrayerCards.

O God, you have fashioned creation in such a beautiful way that no one may enter this life except through a mother; how truly important and special moms are.
We ask you to bless all women that you have called to the holy vocation of motherhood.
May they persevere in every trial, rejoice in every blessing and never cease praying for their children.
By their maternal encouragement, patient love, and good example, may they lead their children to the bliss of heaven.
O Virgin Mother of God, Mary most holy, be every mother’s inspiration in all that they think, say, and do.
Amen

May God continue to bless our mother’s and all those who are mother figures in our lives.  We are grateful for your love.

Happy Mother’s Day!
