Day Six:  Called to Reconciliation

Reconciliation is always necessary when people to live together. Thus Clare writes in her Rule: In the unlikely event that, through actions or words, upset or anger surfaces between two Sisters, the Sister who initiated that friction shall not only bow down humbly at the other’s feet, even before prayer, but also beg her openly and simply to ask for God’s forgiveness. The other Sister, however, shall forgive her Sister ungrudgingly any offense the latter has caused here, according to the words of the Lord: “If you do not forgive with your heart, your Heavenly Father will not forgive you either.

 Consider

Every argument between two people, like every reconciliation, has wider consequences. The problem will be solved not through cantankerousness, but by admitting one’s own mistake and opening up to the other person, so that he or she may forgive.

 3 Our Fathers

 Novena Prayer:

St. Clare, you are our Sister on her way to Christ. We shall be like pilgrims and foreigners in this world, trustfully receiving all we need to live for the Lord. In this trust I ask you to grant me the request that is so dear to my heart:… Implore our Lord Christ in his mercy to be with us always, just as we will always be with him now and for ever. Amen.
