Daily Reflection: Thursday, July 25

For we who live are constantly being given up to death for the sake of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.   (2Cor 4:11)

On mission, St. Paul lived with the possibility of being killed.  He also lived with persecution, privation and hardship.  These were the constant “little deaths”.   We have our own forms of suffering, some severe.   All can be for the sake of the Gospel.   The way that we bear them gives testimony to our faith and the ultimate goodness of God.

“Offer it up” is not a trivial expression.
