The Dust has Settled
Letter from the Pastor
17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Sunday, July 28, 2024
In my letter two weeks ago, I promised I would get back to you on the final numbers for the Festival of the Sea 2024 once the dust has settled. The bills have been paid, the deposit slips have been reconciled, and the report has been submitted. From my perspective, the move to the week of the 4th of July with Campy’s Amusements was well worth it!
The profit for St. Francis of Assisi Parish for the Festival of the Sea 2024 was $79,272.39. That is $20,939.35 more than last year’s festival. That is a significant increase for the parish. Besides the financial gain, the spirit at this year’s festival was wonderful. There was excitement in the air that I had not been there for a long time. We hope to continue this momentum and have an even more successful Festival of the Sea 2025. Mark your calendars, it will be July 1 – 5, 2025!!
We do need to apologize to FRWD Logistics, LLC. Through an oversight on our part, we did not include them on the cover of the bulletin two weeks ago when we listed all of our sponsors. My apologies to Loretta Frontera and FRWD Logistics for this mistake. FRWD Logistics has been a loyal supporter of St. Francis Parish for many years and this year they were a Carousel Sponsor donating $1,000 to the parish. Thank you, FRWD Logistics!
Finally, through the power of social media this picture was one of the photos posted on our parish Facebook page during the festival. It was seen by someone at the Religious Formation Conference [www.relforcon.org] and they ask if they could put it on the cover of their summer vocation publication, InFormation. Sr. Pat, you’re now going to be even more famous! God is good!
I wish everyone a peaceful and blessed summer!
Peace and All Good.
Fr. Francis J. Di Spigno, OFM
